Waikiki Beach
Back to the place where I first learned to surf - I'm also exceptionally lucky to be able to say I know it pretty well at this point...so after hopping around so much it felt very relaxing to be somewhere so familiar (yet still so beautiful and WARM)
Sunset from Waikiki
Free hula show
Kaena Point
We also explored Kaena Point, which is an undeveloped stretch of coast along the northwestern point of Oahu. We hiked through the Kaena Point Natural Area Reserve, which I highly recommend doing with folks who work for the HI fish and wildlife department - they can tell you about all kinds of plants and animals (which of course I love)
Yay for four-wheel drive!
Albatross! It is great watching them take off because they have to get a running start
Hiking along the trail
Looking south after we've rounded the point
The western shore of Oahu, south of Kaena Point
That shiny thing at the edge of the water is a Monk seal...a pretty rare sight
I drained my camera battery with many failed attempts to capture it surfacing until we backed away and finally it felt safe to emerge
